Our first visit (and surely not the last) to the beautiful 14th century headquarters of the Aston Martin Heritage Trust on Sunday 29th March 2009 was a great success.
The 51 delegates, including two from France, enjoyed four fascinating presentations, an excellent buffet lunch and the chance to meet old friends and make new acquaintances. Continued…

1927 LONDON to BRIGHTON RUN PROGRAMME - facsimile reprint
Only 3 copies remaining!
Until recently there was doubt that a programme had been produced for the first revival of the 1896 Emancipation Run, but then an original was found among the papers of the late S. C. H. ‘Sammy’ Davis.
Subsequently three more copies have been located in private collections but clearly these are exceedingly rare and valuable items. Using Sammy’s original, the Society of Automotive Historians in Britain (SAHB) has had 25 facsimile copies reproduced to the most exacting standards.
Grey card of the same weight and colour was used for the cover and the correct grey paper for the four inner pages. The green and red printing on the cover has also been accurately reproduced. As per the original, a single staple holds the programme together.
Contents:
-
Route Map,
-
Conditions of Entry,
-
List of 51 Entrants and their Cars, brief details of 20 of these entries,
-
Daily Sketch advert on the back cover.
The only addition to the modern copy is printed in small lettering on the back cover, and reads: ‘Facsimile reprint 2009 Numbered 1-25 No. 01’ (etc). This reprint is a once-only exercise that will not be repeated – all profits go to SAHB funds. £17.50 each inc UK postage.
Copies available from:

By S.C.H. Sammy Davis, published by Herridge & Sons. £22.50, plus Post and Packing
I joined the Veteran Car Club some 40 years ago and edited its Gazette on and off for the next 20 years. During that time I became friendly with, and received much support from, the club’s founder Sammy Davis. A legend in his own lifetime, Sammy was a delightful companion, as was his wife Susanna, and many were the hilarious sessions I enjoyed with them while listening to their respective reminiscences.
